The Folsom Public Library provides free access to a number of newspapers in print or digital formats. For online access to newspapers a valid Folsom Library card will be required before gaining access. 

Online Newspapers 

New York Times - The library offers free access to the New York Times. You will be asked to log-in using your library card and pin number. The library subscribes to the full NYT access that includes Cooking, Games, and The Athletic. Also included is the NYT app for mobile devices. This resource is available thanks to funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library, and the Folsom Public Library.

Sacramento Bee - The Library offers free access to the Sacramento Bee on the NewsBank platform. Includes archives dating back to 1984.

America's News - America's News is a searchable collection of regional and national newspapers from around the USA and dating back as far as 1903. Often used for topical, historical, or genealogical research, this searchable database is hosted on the NewsBank platform.

Folsom Telegraph - Access current and past issues of the Folsom Telegraph dating back to 2008.  Articles before 2008 can be obtained through the California Digital Newspaper Collection.

Folsom Telegraph Archive - California Digital Newspaper Collection has digitized copies of the Folsom Telegraph from 1865-1998.

Folsom Times - Folsom Times is a digital community newspaper focused on Folsom and the surrounding communities. Articles range from current date back to 2023 when the Times was founded. 

HeritageHub - The Library offers free access to HeritageHub on the NewsBank platform. It holds thousands of Obituaries from newspapers around the USA and is used for genealogy research.

California Digital Newspaper Collection - The digital archives for the Folsom Telegraph and several historic Sacramento County newspapers are now available through the California Digital Newspaper Collection. The Telegraph issues have been digitized from 1865-1998. Articles after 2008 can be obtained through the Folsom Telegraph Archive or through the physical archives kept at the Folsom History Museum or the California State Archives. Due to the overwhelming volume of material it is helpful to use the advanced search functions on California Digital Newspaper Collection.

Print Newspapers

The Library receives print editions of the Sacramento Bee, Wall Street Journal, Folsom Telegraph, Sacramento Business Journal, World Journal (Chinese language). These can be read in the library and are located in the reading area at the end of the adult wing.
