Folsom Public Library Roof Replacement
Protecting the Library for Years to Come
The Folsom Public Library is getting a new roof. Beginning in August 2026, the City of Folsom will replace the library’s original low-slope roofing system with a new weatherproof roofing system designed to protect the building for years to come.
The library opened in 2007, and recent inspections identified areas of deterioration in the existing roof. Replacing the roof now will help prevent future moisture intrusion and potential structural problems while preserving the library as one of Folsom’s busiest public facilities.
What to Expect During Construction
The library will remain open during construction, but visitors should expect construction activity and noise during work hours.
Because the work will take place in sections, the areas of the library most affected by noise and construction activity will change throughout the project. Some periods may be relatively quiet, while other phases may produce more noticeable noise.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as this important work is completed.
Construction Schedule
- Construction begins: August 2026
- Expected duration: Approximately 8–10 weeks
- Library operations: The library is expected to remain open throughout construction
The project schedule may change depending on weather, site conditions, and construction progress.
Project Funding
The roof replacement is funded through the City of Folsom’s Facilities Rehabilitation Fund, which supports major maintenance and rehabilitation projects that preserve City facilities. The project was approved by the City Council as part of the City’s annual budget.
On May 12, 2026, the City Council approved a contract with Michael Roberts Construction Inc. to complete the project, in an amount not to exceed $948,044.71. A competitive bidding process resulted in a final bid approximately $480,000 below early project estimates, providing significant savings to the City.
Thank You for Your Patience
We understand that construction noise and activity can be disruptive, and we appreciate the community’s patience while this work is underway. The project is an important investment in the long-term health of the Folsom Public Library and will help ensure that the building continues serving the community for many years to come.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to protect your library for the future.
